The Inspiration behind Glebe House Designs!
So I thought it would be nice to introduce myself to all of you who are interested! I will not be offended if you choose not to read this but I know how I love reading & understanding more about the people behind the businesses that I buy from. I feel it helps give the gifts/ items I’m buying perhaps a more meaningful story…. so here goes…
My name is Victoria and I hit the big 3-0 at the end of last year. I am engaged to be married to Josh in August 2019! I love being active and am happiest when I have an amazing view, a breeze through my hair and a glass of vino in hand! I love dogs and I love food. Actually as I’m writing this, I’m sat on the plane on my way to Geneva for a long weekend of skiing and I literally can’t wait!
A bit about Glebe House Designs (“GHD” for ease).
I started GHD at the end of 2019. Believe it or not, I have a corporate background. I studied economics at university and went on work in insurance in the city for about 5 years once I graduated. We’ve always laughed because I’ve always thought of myself as far from creative! At school, I was happiest in the maths classroom! It was only in 2018 when my now fiancé and I bought a house in the Wiltshire countryside that I started to uncover my artistic side. We turned a disheveled house into a beautiful B&B - home in which we someday want to live (if you want a sneak peek inside then take a look at www.barfordcountryescape.co.uk) .
When it came to decorating the house, I wanted to find creative, cost effective ways to have it stand out to our guests. I love the countryside and all that it brings so I started messing around using feathers that I collected from the farm and researched what I would need to develop something pretty unique. And so our feather art was created. I remember giving away a few of my early pieces as presents to friends and their enthusiasm gave me the confidence I needed to launch as a business. Glebe House Designs was born.
Quickly the art has started to take on a life of its own and we were so delighted when we were stocked by Joanna Wood for their Christmas 2018 range. Joanna is a well known, top end, interior designer in the UK so you can imagine just how exciting and confidence boosting that was.
The beginning of 2019 has been amazing. We are in the process of being set up as a supplier at the Wedding Present Company and have a couple of independent coffee shops waiting to display our work. I’ve just got to get on and get the frames made for them!!! As well, we have recently had our first website order to someone I didn’t know!
I love being involved in such a young and dynamic company and am really excited for where it is headed. We've got lots of exciting things in the pipe-line so keep watching us!
If you've made it this far then thank you so much!!! If you fancy it, please like and comment to let me know that you have!
